Monitoring Diabetes
Actions Taken
Gestational diabetes brings with it a number of health risks to the child.
If the mother has an abnormally high blood sugar level, her body would develop more insulin than usual,
allowing the same to happen to the baby. This could lead to macrosomia in the child as the birth weight increases and
brings complications in the delivery as well as the child’s health afterwards.
However, this can be well managed with an early diagnosis and care. We suggest every pregnant woman to undergo screening
for diabetes as a precautionary measure. Upon diagnosis of the same, she is given adequate information about the disease,
handed out a device to monitor the diabetes by herself from time to time and be under the supervision of the appointed doctor for observation.
